Programs

Education

Education is a major focus of the Association and involves elementary and high school students, teenage parents and adults. Branches sponsor educational projects as a service to the community and often network with other associations and organizations. Through our Connection Program branches adopt schools and/or classes where tutoring and mentoring are provided in reading, writing, mathematics and science for boys and girls at all grade levels.

Fellowships

National fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to doctoral students.  Applications for the fellowship may be requested by writing to the chairman of the Fellowship Committee at the Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Literacy

Tutorial activities and programs are designed to close the achievement gap for children who are struggling with reading and math. Annual activities are held to promote and increase the “Joy of Reading” through “Reading Jubilees” sponsored by the branches. Ongoing programs in literacy fundamentals and activities are provided for children and adults to enhance literacy and learning.

National/International Affairs

The Association supports schools nationally and inter-nationally by providing needed supplies and services through individual Branches. In addition, the Association encourages the study of national and international issues
